Calendar of Upcoming Events Saturday, August 21 Picnic More information coming Saturday, August 28, at 9am Berrian Mountain Hike Did you know there is beautiful undeveloped Denver Mountain Park land immediately adjacent to Evergreen Meadows? Berrian Mountain is the peak that towers over Armadillo Trail on the east side of our subdivision. The Denver Mountain Park property encompasses 80 acres and intersects with Evergreen Meadows at ‘upper’ Armadillo Trail (north of Chipmunk and south of Wolverine). There is an unmarked trailhead there that leads to the peak. The EMHA will lead a hike to the top of Berrian Mountain on Saturday, August 28, leaving the trailhead at 9:00 am. The hike takes roughly three hours roundtrip. It is a fairly strenuous uphill climb with an elevation gain of roughly 1000 feet. If it is a nice day, we encourage you to bring a bag lunch to enjoy at the peak, where you can see Denver to the east, Indian Peaks to the north, Mt Evans to the west, and the Conifer Town Center to the south! There is a small ‘parking area’ (really just a flat spot) with room for approximately three cars opposite the trailhead. If you are interested in participating, please contact Andy Potter by replying to this email or call 303-674-0651. Depending on the level of interest, we may do some carpooling to minimize parking problems at the trailhead. If you know the trail well and would like to help lead the hike, we would love your help. Tuesday, June 1 Slash Collection Program EMHA is sponsoring a Slash Collection Day on Tuesday, June 1 (the first weekday after Memorial Day weekend). The goals of slash day are to make the process of slash removal easier and more affordable for EMHA residents and to reduce fire danger in our neighborhood by aiding in the removal of branches and other tree debris from resident properties We have negotiated a reduced rate for slash processing with Matt's Tree Service, a company owned by Matt Armbruster, an Evergreen Meadows resident. Matt's equipment allows his team to remove slash at a rate of eight cubic yards every 15 minutes (this rate assumes the slash on your property is stacked in one spot within three feet of a road or driveway, with all butt ends facing the road or driveway). This removal rate is equivalent to approximately two pickup loads stacked cab high every 15 minutes. Disorganized and less accessible piles can also be processed, but the processing rate will be slower. See the April newsletter for more details. Saturday, May 22 Clean-up Day We need your help! The EMHA Community Clean-Up Day is set for Saturday, May 22. The goal of the event is to walk the roads in Evergreen Meadows (after the snow has melted) and clear the neighborhood of rubbish and debris that has collected over the winter. EMHA will provide garbage bags and a central location to dispose of garbage once the event is over. We need block captains and volunteers to help ensure all roads are accounted for! Block captains will be asked to attend a meeting the morning of the event; pick up cleaning materials to take to your block; manage volunteers who will help on your block; and deliver garbage from your block to a central location (exact location TBD). There are 490 homes in Evergreen Meadows; we have broken the neighborhood into 48 "blocks". If you can help with your block, please contact EMHA at landscape@emha.us or 303-991-7699 with: your name/address/cell phone number, the block number your home falls in below, and what level of volunteer you would like to be.
